ANNEX IV : CSAV Group Dangerous Goods Policy. (Download Document Below)
CSAV Goods Haz. Format Dangerious goods Cert. Format
The CSAV Group is dedicated to the safe transport of dangerous goods.

       1.- Acceptance
       2.  Follow up
       3.- Prohibited commodities.
       4.- House rules. 
       5.- Known Rules.

 Acceptance The acceptance shall only be granted by the CSAV Dangerous Goods Department (CSAV DG Dept). 

Follow up The current status of any dangerous goods booking will be kept in the official booking system. Reports will always be available through the defined channels.

Prohibited commodities
The following commodities under no circumstances will be accepted:

House Rules

HR.1
Dangerous goods in reefer containers (operated or not operated)

CSAV Group containers
  Dangerous goods classified as 2.3, 6.1 or 7, either as primary class or as subsidiary risk, are not accepted.
Third parties containers:
  No restriction.

HR.2 Reefer containers under temperature controlled (as regulated):

CSAV Group containers:
  No restriction
Third parties:containers
  Subject to CSAV Group Container & Logistic Dept. assessment.
Shipper’s owned containers:
  Prohibited.

HR.3
Phenol and phenol compounds

Any PHENOL or PHENOL compound shall be stowed "On deck only".

HR.4
Mechanical ventilation

Commodities for which the regulations require mechanical ventilation when stowed under deck, shall be stowed “On deck only”, unless the Operations obtains from the Master a written confirmation that, mechanical ventilation will be provided during the whole passage.

HR.5 Lighters

Any LIGHTERS or LIGHTERS REFILLS, class 2.1 UN1057 will be stowed "On deck only shaded from radiant heat". Any LIGTHERS or LIGTHERS REFILLS (UN1057) not originated in Europe or the USA/Canada will be submitted to a Survey Report as described below.

Marine pollutants

Marine pollutants loaded on deck, shall not be stowed in out rows.

HR.7
Final DG Summary (FDGS).

This is one of the official channels to display the dangerous goods accepted for loading and the conditions under which the acceptance was granted. The FDGS will be available in real time through internet. Users shall have access & password. Cargoes not listed in or whose description do not fully match the description shown shall not be planned, stowed, loaded, accepted in the terminal premises, documentation cleared or any other activity or action that means or could lead to mean that the CSAV Group assumes responsibility over the cargo.

HR.8
Incidents

Any incident affecting dangerous cargoes shall cause the opening of a DG Protocol by the Operations and its follow up in addition to be informed to the DG Dept.

HR.9
Organic peroxides

Any organic peroxide (Class 5.2) not originated in Europe or the USA/Canada will be carried under controlled temperature and shall be submitted to a Survey Report as described below.

HR.10 Hermetically sealed
Any commodity not originated in Europe or the USA/Canada to which the Special Provision PP31 (hermetically sealed) applies shall be submitted to a Survey Report as described below.

HR.11 Survey Report

The Survey Report is aimed mainly to very that the Packing Certificate requirements are met. Ad-hoc photos shall be taken to give proof of each step (some indications are included):

1 The container/vehicle was clean, dry and apparently fit to receive the goods (picture of all 4 sides and the interior); .

2 Packages which need to be segregated in accordance with applicable segregation requirements have not been packed together onto or in the container/vehicle (unless approved by the competent authority, in which case copy of the approval shall be attached); .

3 All packages have been externally inspected for damage, and only sound packages have been loaded (overall picture of each package type, close up of the label, close up of the marks, close up of the mark stamped in the packaging as assigned by the competent authority); .

4 Drums have been stowed in an upright position, unless otherwise authorized by the competent authority, and all goods have been properly loaded and, where necessary, adequately braced with securing material to suit the mode(s) of transport for the intended journey (picture of the container interior once the packing started, and after every 25% of completion afterwards, close up of the flooring and lashing/securing/bracing points to show the material, elements and technical system used); .

5 Goods loaded in bulk have been evenly distributed within the container/vehicle (picture of the load once the packing started, and after every 25% of completion afterwards ; .

6 For consignments including goods of class 1 other than division 1.4, the container/vehicle is structurally serviceable; .

7 The container/vehicle and packages are properly marked, labelled and placarded, as appropriate.

8 When solid carbon dioxide (CO2-dry ice) is used for cooling purposes, the container/vehicle is externally marked or labelled in a conspicuous place, such as, at the door end, with the words: "DANGEROUS CO2 (DRY ICE) INSIDE. VENTILATE THOROUGHLY BEFORE ENTERING"; and .

9 A dangerous goods Shipper’s Declaration, has been received for each dangerous goods consignment loaded in the container/vehicle (attach copy of each Shipper’s Declaration).

Additional inspection to be made to the UN1057 LIGHTERS or LIGHTERS REFILLS .

1 Specific tests to measure gas leakage on a random selected number of packages shall be carried out and registered. The same shall be done once the container is closed at the door rubber gaskets (upper, centre and lower ends) and ventilation outlets.

Additional inspection to be made to commodities to which the Special Provision PP31 applies .

1 Description of the method utilized to obtain the “hermetically sealed” condition including one or more pictures (close ups) of same.
